Newport Masonic Lodge (the Lodge) has played a significant part in local events for over 110 years. Part of that activity is to support community members pursuing a trade or vocation. The Lodge wishes to continue that tradition by granting scholarships to community members wishing to pursue a trade, vocation or profession. This scholarship is awarded to those who meet the criteria for the scholarship and who have the potential for accomplishment in a trade or vocation and demonstrable community service experience.

Past recipients of this scholarship are not eligible to apply.

 

Eligibility

General – Scholarships are available to all persons with a demonstrated financial need, regardless of age, sex, marital status or relationship with the Masonic fraternity.

Geographic area – Applicant must reside in Lincoln County south of Lincoln Beach. 

Preferences

Commit to pursuing a trade, vocation or profession

Be a Lincoln County High School graduate or Career Tech, or Home school

 

Funding

Two scholarships of $2,000 each are available

Time of Award

Scholarships will be awarded following successful completion of the academic year.

A copy of all transcripts

A one page letter describing your study plans, including subject matter area, your attitude towards community service, your career plans, your financial need and any other significant points that you feel will be important in evaluating your application for this scholarship.

 

A resume that includes past and present employment, civic organizations, honors, awards, positions of leadership, etc.

 

One letter of reference should be emailed directly to the Secretary of the Lodge by ____. Do not attach this letter to the application. Request that the person supplying the letter of reference mail his/her letter directly to: Secretary, Newport Masonic Lodge, POB 2322, Newport, OR
